Nothing is more powerful than the songs from the hymnal. As much as we evolve as people and our tastes grow....the songs from the original hymnals will always have true meaning to our hearts. Its awesome that your kids could partake in the feelings as well.
I adore this song. We did it every year in high school choir as part of our winter holiday concert. It's lovely that your church plays it at Easter as well.
Our church choir, including two of my kids, did a BEAUTIFUL job of this song at the end of Easter services yesterday.
