Where in the World Wednesday...World's Fair Park

Knoxville Tennessee was home to the 1982 World's Fair. Last weekend, I took four of my kids to a Reading Festival at World's Fair Park. It is the first time I've really taken the time to appreciate what a great resource it is for our community. The Sun Sphere (my kids and I affectionately call it the Disco Ball), is visible from most of downtown.

This fountain is both beautiful and FUN.  The cool water is the perfect way to escape the mid afternoon heat.

There is also a very nice playground. It was as much fun for my 12 yr old as it was for the 3 yr old...not many playgrounds can appeal to such a wide age range.

Many events are held at World's Fair Park through out the year, most of them attract large crowds.  Now that we've experienced how fun this park can be, I'm sure we will be going back again soon.

Great pictures! Looks like so much fun. I went to the 1982 World's Fair so seeing that sphere always takes me back.

Doesn't that fountain look amazing now! It's an incredible warm and humid day here in Alabama! We love, love, loved the Sunsphere! We haven't experienced the World's Fair Park in warmer weather, probably because of the crowds, but we did have fun exploring the Sunsphere. I think it was one of our favorite (and free- who can complain?) places to have visited.
